Olive oil from the volcanic lands of Lesbos Island

The region of Agia Paraskevi on the island of Lesvos is characterized by the plethora of olive trees which are over 500 years old.
Olive oil is an emblematic product of the region which contributes to its prosperity.
In 1911 the "communal mill" was created to deal with the 2 private mills which controlled the local olive oil production and by extension the income of olive growers.
The region has since experienced extraordinary development and this communal spirit continues to exist till now.

Nowadays the olive mill has moved to larger and more modern facilities right next to it.
The "communal mill" has been transformed into a living museum of the region's olive growing.
